Indigenomics is a dialogue and design platform to bring attention and focus to the growing Indigenous Economy. It is through dialogue and connecting that solutions based collaborations can occur to address the challenges and overcome systemic economic barriers.
Since 2019, the Indigenomics Events Series have been shaping the future of Indigenous economic growth, bringing together leaders, investors, policymakers, and industry innovators to accelerate Indigenous business success. As a national platform for economic reconciliation, these events provide a space for collaboration, investment, and strategy-building to activate the $100 billion Indigenous economic target.
The Indigenomics Event Series includes, Indigenomics DESIGN, Indigenomics SHE, Indigenomics WEALTH DYNAMICS, Indigenomics IMPACT, Indigenomics on Bay Street and Indigenomics NOW. Each event focuses on key drivers of Indigenous economic strength, including finance, technology, capital access, equity ownership, economic justice, and economic policy. The series highlights Indigenomics AI development, Indigenous-led financial architecture, and transformative business models that empower Indigenous entrepreneurs and communities.
In 2021, the Institute founded the Indigenomics Scholarship Program. The Indigenomics Scholarship program is inspired by the words of the Honourable Murray Sinclair, Chief Commissioner for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission ‘Education is the key to reconciliation. Education got us into this mess, and education will get us out of it.’
As a part of each Indigenomics hosted event, an Indigenous student in business, economics, or commerce is selected with assistance from the Host Nation or region.
Vancity has partnered with Indigenomics to support this initiative as well as the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada for the 2023 Indigenomics on BAY STREET event.
Indigenomics events serve to invite our collective leadership, dialogue and action in advancing the Indigenous economy. Indigenomics is advancing a strengths based narrative of Indigenous economic growth, design, inclusion and reconciliation.
