Josh Nicholas – CIBC

My goal is to use my time and energy to help create a more sustainable and equitable world.

In my current role, I have the opportunity to contribute to CIBC’s ESG strategy as a community investment manager focused on evaluating and recommending corporate donations that support Indigenous communities, increase access to financial education, and provide urgent disaster relief. This involves due diligence and impact measurement.

Beyond partnerships, I have the opportunity to contribute to strategic projects such as CIBC’s Sustainability Report and initiatives aimed at developing CIBC as a leader in the social impact space, such as the CIBC Foundation-Microsoft Social Impact Alliance. Outside of CIBC, I’ve gained practical experience in the social impact space while leading a social entrepreneurship organization at the University of Windsor and serving as a board member at various charitable organizations.

I bring an interdisciplinary approach to my work having professional experiences in both finance and social impact. I’ve had the opportunity to further my studies in the social impact field by obtaining a graduate diploma in Sustainability and Social Responsibility from the University of Toronto and taking several online courses focused on aligning impact to the SDGs and Indigenous reconciliation.
